The other day in my Typography class, my professer (who is a avid typographer) told us that as Graphic Designers and Typographers, we were NEVER to use two spaces after a period at the end of a sentence because that was the type of stuff that we were taught in elementary school. [say what?]
Now I have to train myself to only put one space after a period. great. It's harder than it seems...

Yet another fail..
Blogging is way harder than it seems! Oh well, here goes what's been happening since november (ha!) Finished up last semester in early December and then I got my gallbladder out! Nice little holiday present :) And now we have already begun a new semester and are back in business! Here are a few projects I finished last semester to look at.
Screen-printed t-shirts with Rebus's on it.

Accordion Fold book:

and here was my studio family last semester :)

So this semester is already killing me. Hopefully we will get TONS of snow tomorrow so that we can get a few snow days! That would be amazing!! My dad brought my sled to me today just in case it does snow a lot! Yay for living so close to State! Oh me and the Megan's signed for an apartment next year!!! EXCITING!!! I can't wait to have my own room and bathroom and huge closet! The apartments that we signed with even have a mini-fridge in each bedroom? So I'll probably store lots of junk food in there and get fat. great.

haha but on a good note I turned in my forms and money for studying abroad in Prague today! I just have to wait to be accepted now! If I do get accepted I would be taking a Fibers and Surface design studio this summer for 6 weeks. What an amazing opportunity to study abroad and take such an awesome swing studio dealing with weaving and sewing and creating physical things with my hands! That will be a nice break from all of my graphic design printed projects. So much stuff is on the screen that it's so relieving to physically make something. I can't wait and I'll hopefully find out in a few weeks if I'm accepted!
I've been trying to dive into God's word more and more and it's so eye opening. I can't wrap my thoughts around how peaceful I feel after I have my quiet time. Even though sometimes I feel that I am not as in-tune with God as I should be, I know that our relationship is the most important thing in my life and I'm trying to work more and more on developing it. So I am trying to be a better Christian and to listen harder for what I am supposed to do with my life. Here's an awesome verse I read last night:
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him."
1 Corinthians 2:9
That verse fills me with so much hope! I am so thankful that I love a God who loves me in return no matter what I do! And I am also thankful for the many blessings he has put into my life and made me aware of. I can't wait for the day when I can meet him and be overwhelmed with joy and love because nobody knows what He has prepared for us when we get to heaven, but we all know it's going to be killer awesome!

what!? NOVEMBER??
Oh, wow...I fail at blogging. October literally flew by and now I only have 18 days of classes left! All I can say is wow. I heard a christmas song on the radio the other day and bout freaked out.
Here is a little craft that I did a while back that I was meaning to post, but never had the time to. the rooms bought some orangina soda and the bottles were perfect for flower vases!! so i cleaned them and twisted down some pretty fake flowers for more cute room decorations.

also on a very very excited note: 14 days until NEW MOON comes out!!!!!!!!

This is quite possibly the best hand-crafted animation I've ever seen!! It is such a neat video and definitely worth a few minutes of your time to watch :)
Yes, it is 9am. Yes, I woke my lazy butt up early this morning to do more work..& YES, fall break starts tomorrow at 4:15!!! Can't wait for a stinking break from all of these projects!!

oh to letterpress
So, we recently learned how to use the letterpress printer in my typography class. It was quite confusing to start out, but it's actually a pretty simple machine once you get the hang of it :) The cool thing about this was that I wasn't sitting in front of my computer! I was hand setting wooden text, inking them, and then getting these awesome embossed pages! Our project was to create a book (out of one, 7 word sentence) that defines typography. Of course this was a class project, which kind of sucked because I am a control freak and wanted to do all the pages myself. Every group got 1 page to print, however my group was assigned the cover page, back page, and the last word in the sentence. Go figure... But anyways, not complaining because it was a great experience and I'm brainstorming other projects that I can go letterpress sometime!

loving a perfect God
Last night at bible study, my wonderful friend Megan gave us all copies of Kelly Needham's blog: (http://www.jimmyneedham.com/kellyspage.php). I highly recommend reading it because it is EXCELLENT!!!
Kelly speaks about wanting to find the perfect man to become her husband. Like most girls she spent too much of her time thinking about boys and not enough time thinking and talking to God. She said to throw out the checklist (that we have all mentally prepared) of things that we want in our husband. However, the most important part of her blog deals with turning our focus on finding a perfect man, to loving a perfect God. As soon as we turn our focus around to loving and adorning Jesus and making time for him in our everyday lives, our outlook on life will become so much clearer! When we stop worrying if we will ever find the right guy or if we have already chosen the right guy, and start praying to God to reveal his plan for us, everything will fall into place.
I loved everything she said in her blog and found it to be very eye opening. I pray that I have already found the right man in Justin and that I can be reassured that this is God's plan. :)
"Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door shall be opened to you." Matthew 7:7

Numero Uno
So, yes, I am following the trend (set by many of my good friends) and getting a blog. My goal in this blog is to inform the world of my wonderful life findings :) and also to maybe vent about life's trials and tribulations. As a Christian, I know that God has blessed me in every aspect of my life. One of my other goals is to always try and see the positive things that God is working on in my life and to learn to appreciate any struggles that come my way. I am majoring in Graphic Design at North Carolina State University (Go Pack!) and I love it here!! Hopefully I can update this thing with some of the cool projects I'm doing. I love NC State football, the color pink, chocolate, and I've recently fallen in love with SLR cameras. I do not own one (yet...maybe sometime in the future) but they are simply amazing.
